April 30, 2010Venue Spotlight: Winter Park Farmers Market
April 29, 2010The Winter Park Farmers Market is such a jem. Right off of New England Avenue it’s in the heart of downtown Winter Park. With it’s rustic feel and open floor plan brides can make this venue anything from a swanky Southern bridal shower to an organic themed wedding.
I can totally picture a bride wearing a simple and elegant lace Anne Barge gown at this venue. Maybe even carrying a bouquet of Texas wildflowers. Whatever your preferences, if you’re looking for a quaint location with tons of country charm the Winter Park Farmers Market may be the perfect location for your event of choice.
*Be sure to double check the booking time! The building is occupied on Saturdays with what else… the farmers market!

Tugging At Our Heart Strings
April 21, 2010This past Saturday, April 17, the Winter Park location was so lucky to have Christine MacPhail, a local Harpist in the salon. She has been playing the harp since she was 6 years old and fell in love with one she saw at a museum. You can really tell her passion for this instrument just by watching the emotion she portrayed and listening to the lovely melodies fill the store.
She can play anything from the traditional Here Comes the Bride, or the Wedding March to some of your more modern favorites like I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, At Last by Etta James, or Haven’t Met You Met by Michael Buble. Of course these are only a few songs from her extensive song list. Her talent is quite amazing as everyone who has heard her music would agree.
Christine got involved in weddings in college when her close friend asked her to play at her wedding and one of the guests then asked her to play at her ceremony and it was much of a domino effect from there. She loves everything about weddings but her favorite part is definitely seeing the bride walk down the aisle. She loves to see the different styles of weddings from a gigantic celebration with 250 guests to a small elegant wedding with only 20 guests.
If any of you brides or anyone else for that matter are interested in having Christine MacPhail she usually books 6 months out unless in the busier months, March and October, she recommends booking 9 months to a year in advance. You can visit her website at www.orlandoharpist.com

Inspiration Board- Blue and Yellow Vintage Wedding
April 21, 2010One of the brides who came into the Gainesville store today needed a little inspiration for her wedding at Sweetwater Branch Inn. I recently saw a post on the Green Wedding Shoes blog with beautiful, vintage yellow and blue details and thought it would work perfectly with her style and venue. I can definitely imagine a bridal gown with touches of lace similar to the Alvina Valenta gown shown in the top right fitting perfectly with her theme. Any brides out there planning a vintage or antique themed wedding? What fun details are you doing to make the old new again?

Light It Up
April 21, 2010Candlelight is so incredibly romantic! Candles give essential soft lighting while providing the perfect ambience for any event. Some elaborate centerpieces however don’t allow much room for oodles and oodles of romantic candles. That’s where lighting professionals come in. They can transform a basic ballroom into the most beautiful room ever by using different colored LED or gelled lights. Most lighting options come in several basic colors with the ability to blend into almost any shade so those unique orange bridesmaid dresses of yours will match perfectly! Some wonderful lighting professionals in the Central Florida area are Kaleidoscope Event Lighting in Orlando and Bay Stage Lighting in Tampa.
Looking for a more interesting way to add color and light to a room? Why not use furniture and bars that light up from within! It’s a great alternative to splash color into the room without using the more traditional method. Room Service by AFR offers some great pieces with the option to change the color from bright fuchsia to soft amber.
