Meet Megan!

May 30, 2010

Hello everyone! My name is Megan and I am so pleased to be the newest addition to the amazing stylists at Solutions Bridal in Gainesville! I just recently received my Master’s Degree from The University of Florida and am so happy to be living in such a wonderful community, also known as The Gator Nation!

A little bit about myself. I moved to Gainesville from Tennessee (I promise I am not a UT fan!) in August of 2008 to pursue my master’s degree in instrumental conducting. I am a former teacher and I must say I just love meeting new people! I am currently planning for my own wedding which will be on June 19th in Savannah, Georgia. To say I am excited would be a total understatement! This has been a year of wonderful successes, from getting my master’s to getting a dream job of working in bridal to marrying my very best friend! I enjoy a variety of activities including shopping, reading, writing, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends. I am very much looking forward to blogging about all kinds of ideas and things that inspire me. I have put together a few photos that give you a little taste of me!

My fiance and I met at a tailgate for the Florida vs. LSU game on October 11, 2008 (hence the picture of the Florida Gators!). The running joke is “Florida Gator football. It brings people together.” :) I am 100% obsessed with shoes (what girl isn’t?!), so I thought a picture of my pink Badgley Mischka wedding shoes would be a fun touch. The picture of the babies are my beautiful nieces (I’m a proud aunt!) and the handsome fellow in the middle is my future husband Ross. My wedding gown (which I got through Solutions!) is by Alvina Valenta (my FAVE designer!). And what girl doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn?!

Thanks to all of you beauties for reading! See you on the blog!

I found this gorgeous wedding party decked out in Dessy bridesmaid dresses on the Bobbi + Mike Photography blog recently and got so excited! The bride and her party look absolutely gorgeous! I love how the dresses are all similar in color and fabric, but the girls were able to do their own unique style. The yellow flowers really pop against the grey, which inspired me to look around at other ways to incorporate these colors into your wedding. Check out the results!

Love,

From the moment she walked in I knew Prissy and I were going to get along. This was mainly because she is super simple and just wanted to get something she loved. I, on the other hand, am very over the top and outgoing. I guess, as they say, opposites attract. We chose an amazing gown that is going to be perfect in her fall wedding in the North Georgia mountains.

One things that stole my heart about Prissy was her amazing relationship with her fiance. They are truly two peas in a pod. We discussed her engagement pictures and what she wanted to do for them, I couldn’t help but think of Paul and Kristen at Footstone Photography. Prissy went to see them that day and everything else is history. The following pictures present the amazing relationship that Prissy and her fiance Caleb share. The Footstone team did an awesome job capturing their love. Can’t wait to see the wedding pictures!!

At the Florida Bridal Expo in January of this year  the Gainesville store started a promotion for a free bridal gown! The promotion ended at the beginning of this month and we were finally able to pick our winner– Sarah Odom!!

Sarah is getting married at First Baptist Church in High Springs, with reception to follow at Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club. She came into the store with her mom, grandma, and sister-in-law in early April and found her beautiful Jasmine Couture lace gown.  She was so excited when we called her after our drawing to tell her that her purchase was going to be reimbursed and that her dress was 100% FREE!! We are so happy for her! She is one of our sweetest and most wonderful brides! Here are some pictures of the little celebration that we had for her in the store.

Check back on the blog in the coming months for more information on the next Florida Bridal Expo on September 12th, 2010. I know we will be doing more fun giveaway announcements!

Love,

Meet Tahlia~

Not only was this past weekend the grand opening for Solutions Bridal, but it was also the “grand opening” for Stylish Traditions!  We’ve been planning Jessica & Kenny’s romantic wedding for months adding special details to their interfaith ceremony.  On Saturday, May 22nd Jessica and Kenny finally tied the knot making it the first wedding day for Stylish Traditions.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful as the bride used vendors such as Lee Forrest Design, Scooter the DJ, Fox Photography, Room Service by AFR, Get Lit Productions, Strings N’ Things and of course, us!  My favorite detail was that in lieu of a favor for her guests, Jessica and Kenny donated to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Cheers to Jessica and Kenny, our first bride and groom to walk down the aisle!

Mazeltov!  A special thanks to Fox Photography for providing the beautiful images and thank you to all the vendors that participated in making this wedding a success.

What a fabulous weekend here at Solutions Bridal Orlando! It was full of lovely brides, gorgeous dresses and DeLiCiOuS treats!

Upper Crust Desserts was so kind to provide us with super cute cookies, in the design of a wedding dress and Chocolate Traditions stopped by with scrumptious chocolate covered strawberries.  And I can’t forget about Godiva and their to-die-for chocolates~

It was definitely a  “sweet”" grand opening weekend!

Hitched in Hollywood

May 22, 2010

I have created a new segment called Solutions’ Megastar Matrimony, abbreviated M&M.  This is where I like to pretend that a newly engaged celebrity enters Solutions Bridal to find her wedding dress and I get to help them. Possible? Why of course! We have had several stars enter Solutions, Jackie London, Jana from xl1067 wore a stunning Anne Barge dress, okay okay… enough with the name dropping, but you get my point.

The bride who wants a “small wedding but a fat reception,” Katy Perry-a  pop singer and retro trendsetter, is engaged to British comedian Russell Brand and is tying the knot October 18th….and I would LOVE to help her pick her wedding dress.

In the upper left corner, is a picture of Katy Perry’s save -the- date, or should I say save-the-week. The Indian-inspired envelope is decorated with a henna-tattooed hand wearing an engagement ring. The inside card reads as follows: “Save the week for the wedding of Katy and Russell, October 18th-25th, 2010. You will need a passport and will be contacted soon with more information.”

Katy will be tying the knot in India, the same place the 25-year-old pop star  got engaged.

According to InStyle, Katy says: “I want my dress to be ornate and detailed and cinched and beautiful.”

If I could pick out Katy Perry’s wedding dress, I would put her in a Lazaro. This ivory hand beaded and embroidered tulle trumpet formal bridal gown, would look total rock star/glam/chic on Katy and fits her descriptions of her dream dress. I can totally see Katy rockin this dress on her wedding day. And of course a bird cage veil and flower hair accessory with her movie star red lipstick.

Hit the Road

Okay so I admit it… transportation isn’t the first thing you jump at when planning your wedding, but it is important and can often go forgotten.  There are a number of different options when planning a ride for your big day.  Limos are quickly fading out while vintage cars and trolleys are becoming more and more popular.  Here are some tips when considering which option is best for you and your hubby:

- Want a romantic ride for two?

If your idea of the perfect getaway is a romantic ride then consider smaller options such as a 1957 Rolls Royce or even a horse drawn carriage.  Make sure you check with both the your venue and the horse and carriage provider to ensure horses are suitable for the property.

- Looking for something more unique?

Try vintage options like a newly restored VW Bug.  A Bride’s Ride connects brides with vintage car owners around the country.  Your can even kick it up a notch by renting a helicopter ride for the getaway of your life!

- All aboard?

A motor coach isn’t the only option for transporting a large group of people.  Currently, trolleys seem to be attracting a lot of attention.  They’re a fun option to transport guests and who doesn’t love a trolley ride.  Another option would be to give your bridal party the ride they won’t forget with this party bus.
