Where can you be married in a sculpture garden, dine with dinosaurs and dance under the stars?  At the Menello Museum of American Art and the Orlando Science Center, that’s where!

The Orlando Science Center offers several locations on-site where you and your guests can eat, drink and be merry while celebrating your nuptials.  Don’t worry, dinning next to T-Rex isn’t your only option at the Science Center!   The have a large, beautiful outdoor terrace that not many other Central Florida venues can offer.  When renting the terrace, the outdoor space comes adorned with hanging white lights  the option to add paper lanterns for a nominal fee.

A popular ceremony site for brides who choose to have their reception at the OSC is the Menello Museum of American Art located directly across the street.  This outdoor space is amongst a sculpture garden surrounded by beautiful oak and magnolia trees overlooking Lake Formosa.

Hello Everyone! I’m absolutely thrilled to feature one of my favorite brides on The Bridal Closet. Drum role please………………………… Mrs. Taylor Nix Hatch!  Taylor was so charming to work with and we all got a kick out of the fact that she was a Florida State Cheerleader and married a former Gator football player!

Taylor and Eddie were married on June 6th at The SouthWood House in Tallahassee, where she wore our stunning “Tyler” dress with beaded belt by Watters & Watters. Taylor accessorized her wedding day look with a Lori London hair flower and dramatic crystal drop earrings by Mariell. As you will see, her outfit came together beautifully.:)

Congratulations Taylor and Eddie! Solutions Bridal wishes you a lifetime full of health, happiness and maybe even a little college sports rivalry ;) .

‘Real Housewives’ star Bethenny Frankel is now starting a new show on Thursday nights on Bravo. The fact that she was on the ‘Real Housewives of New York’ but was still single and dating irked people initially but she quickly became a favorite of most viewers. She now is starting her own show which tracks the transition from the matron she never was to the wife and mother she is becoming. As mentioned in a previous post, Bethenny chose one of our fabulous dresses, Romantic by Kenneth Pool as her wedding gown and looks fantastic even with her baby bump!

Summertime!

June 23, 2010

This week is the official first week of Summer 2010!  In honor, I couldn’t help but appropriately write on Beach Weddings.  Brides either love or hate beach weddings, and my take on it is the brides that don’t care for the theme don’t know all the possibilities.

It doesn’t have to be all seashells and starfish you know.  A beach setting brings an organic, earthy element into the mix than can be styled with soft shades of grey and blue.

Another more whimsical interpretation of the beach is America’s old-fashioned boardwalks.   A Coney Island beach themed wedding can include memorable favorites such as salt-water taffy or mini cotton candy spools.  You can bring in bright colors reminiscent of the lights that shine off the boardwalk.  Royal blue and yellow would be a perfect choice, as well as light blue and bubble gum pink!

If you did want to take the under the sea approach, there’s a chic way to get the point across too.  Coastal Cabana in the Tampa Bay area creates the most original centerpieces, décor and accessories inspired the sea.  Yes, there are seashells and there are starfish, but believe me, they’re not the kind you find walking along the beach!

Enjoy your Summer!

So Exciting!

June 22, 2010

Okay, so the buzz is going around about photo mingle right now. We had it at our grand opening party and it was the life of the party.  SoooOoo fun! You get to see your picture right after it is taken and then you can write a little note on it. The screen is a touch screen and really easy to write a little note on, if you don’t like the picture you can erase it right then and there.

Photo Mingle would be perfect for any wedding and definitely add some pizazz for the reception !

Mahhhhvelous party

June 19, 2010

On Thursday June 17th, Solutions Bridal Orlando was pleased to host our very own Grand Opening Party and it was mahhvelous!  We were so honored to share our new salon with all of our dear friends!

With a ribbon cutting ceremony held prior- our guests were led into the party and ready to mingle. Or should I say Photo Mingle…

The event was fabulous but how could it have not been with the AmAzInG vendors on board. I truly feel we had the DREAM TEAM!  This group is def the elite in the industry. When I first met with the vendors I created an inspiration board to display the feel I was going for~

I wanted to use pink and blue for our colors to create a trendy chic vibe. The colors were perfect for a June event. Amy Morelli created a gorgeous master piece for the invite and had our guests “oohing and ahhing” over them!

The aisle runner was a nice pizzazz to the already gorgeous entrance way. A Rivini Martini anyone? With three customized martinis- Kenneth Pool Cosmo, Anne Barge Bellini or a Rivini Martini our guests were ready to get the party started.

I probably gained ten pounds from this party alone from the divine treats of Anna Cakes and the scrumptious selection from Kevin Moore.

The decor to this party was Stunning  Jaw-dropping. The phenomenal floral pieces, the lighting, drapery, linens, furniture,  and of course the dresses were the perfect touch for the par~tay!

Okay, so now I get to give my shout outs to the Dream Team!

Big Kudos to Ben Lawles with Kaleidoscope Event Lighting, Kris Bush with Quest Drapes, Lindsey Cosimi with Room Service ,Brian and Richard from Flourish, Brett Walters with Kirby Rentals, Kellie Warren-Underwood with the oober fun Photo Mingle, Molly & Jeff Brown with Cinematique Films, Amy Morellie with 2ucollection, photographer Caroline Johnson , Kevin Moore with Moore Fine Foods, Anna Hightower with Anna Cakes, Stefani Taylor for providing drinks from Blue Martini , Samira Gast for designing our fantastic maps,  Anna Legenhausen for the stunning aisle runner,  and the talented Heather Snively with Weddings Unique for coordination!

*Special thanks to Bryan from Valet Today & Lazaro for the unique Ice sculpture*

Everyone at Solutions is so excited because there are only…

Yay!

If you plan on coming to Dash, and haven’t done so already, please read my previous post “So, what is a sample sale? (Part 1)” for a few questions that we have answered from brides about the event. The following are a few other questions that have come up recently:

Q: How early should I arrive for Dash for the Dress?

A: At last year’s event we had a few brides who arrived the night before! I don’t think that it would be necessary to arrive THAT early, but we have heard rumors of some brides arriving as as early as 5:00- 6:00 a.m. on Saturday the 26th. The doors are going to open promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Q: What do I do when I get to Dash?

A: When you arrive please visit the check in table to sign in for the event. There you will be able to get more information on how the event works.

Q: Can I have someone hold my spot in line and come back at 8:00 a.m. when the doors open?

A: If you are in the first group of people allowed in the store (approximately the first 20-30 people in line) you will be given a number that will hold your spot in line. As long as one person is in line to hold all of your numbers you are allowed to leave the line. If all members of a group leave the line you forfeit your place. WE WILL NOT GIVE OUT NUMBERS FOR MEMBERS OF A PARTY THAT HAVE NOT ARRIVED YET. (aka. Please make sure you arrive with the rest of your group, or you risk standing in a different place in line.)

Q: How many people should I bring?

A: A bride can bring anyone who is important in deciding on her dress for her big day! There is no limit to how many people you can bring, although space is somewhat limited in the store. Usually a group of 3-5 works best, just so you can have a few people to hold dresses while you try on, help you out in the fitting rooms, and to give opinions. We love brides and their “teams” who get into the spirit of the event. Check out these girls from last year’s event who really had team spirit!

Q: Is there a time limit?

There will be a time limit for how long you are able to spend looking for a dress. It’s part of the fun of the event! The first group of 20-30 people has 25 minutes to find their gown (not including time at check out). We will then rotate to the next group of 20-30. If you do not find your dress in the given allotment of time you are able to get back in line and try again. However, dresses can not be put on hold at the end of the 25 minute allotment.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of dresses you can try on at a time?

There is a limit of 4 dresses per bride at one time. Please be considerate and try not to hoard dresses that you are no longer considering. There will be consultants available to help return styles to the rack that you do not want.

Q: What should I wear?

Wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to take on and off. I would recommend wearing a sports bra, and full coverage underwear. There are fitting rooms, but there may be more brides than rooms available. Comfey shoes are a must too!

Love,

There are so many kinds of flowers to consider when choosing centerpieces that fit your personality and your wedding.  Why not opt for something more flavorful than your everyday bloom?  Artichokes are a great alternative to green hydrangeas and add character.  Instead of yellow gerbera daisies why not use slices of fresh cut lemons or even the whole fruit.  I just love the idea of fruit and vegetables as the focal point.  It’s fun, it’s organic and it’s a tasty piece of work!

I found these amazing earrings on my new web site obsession www.renttherunway.com, and I couldn’t resist building an inspiration board around them! Emerald green is one of my favorite colors. I love the emerald color that is available for bridesmaids dresses through Watters and Watters! Most of their satin styles in the Wtoo line are available in this beautiful shade. Any lovely brides out there using emerald as one of their wedding colors?
