Wedding Design

September 8, 2010

I recently stumbled across an article that I found really inspiring and creative. I would imagine that for many brides, the initial wedding design choice may not always be the easiest. Some girls have their perfect wedding planned from the time they know what a wedding is, but others haven’t thought twice about it.

The article that I found so cool was found on The Wedding Loft site. This article was titled “A New Way to Find Your Wedding Design Inspiration. The article is all about taking the design of a room and turning that into your wedding design.

Here you can see the center picture is the picture of the design of a bedroom. All the surrounding pictures are the designs and styles that were formed based on the inspiration of the bedroom picture. Centerpiece Inspiration

August 27, 2010

Depending on the location, the season, and the overall theme of your wedding, the options for your centerpieces are endless! Tall extravagant centerpieces or short and whimsical? Boldly colored or earthy tones? With your floral centerpieces, it’s important to incorporate the same theme and feel that you have going for the rest of your wedding decor.

I have seen a lot of brides use a mixture of centerpiece ideas. It’s nice to give the room a dimensional feeling by adding in different centerpieces from table to table. I would say that unless you are using a very eclectic theme, you should stay consistent in the types of flowers used. For instance, you could use a tall trumpet vase with your favorite flowers on one table, and on the next you could use a small vase with the same flowers. You could even add in a third design with floating candles and a single stem floating in vases.

Here is a perfect example found on weddingbee blog. You can see that at this wedding, they used the same color scheme and even the same flowers, but they incorporated other elements and different heights from centerpiece to centerpiece.

I think this gives the room a great visual effect and your guests will be awed!

Shabby Chic Inspiration

August 25, 2010

I was researching around for some neat shabby chic inspiration to share with all of you beautiful brides, and wedding wire happens to have some awesome inspiration!

Pink lemonade and midnight. I would have never come up with that combination on my own, but oh my goodness, it’s beautiful! Here is some perfect inspiration for these colors using the shabby chic wedding theme.

The beautiful calligraphy and the ribbon used to hang the the placecards are a perfect combination of shabby and chic.

The next one that I found on wedding wire is the combination of juniper and Turkish rose. It’s stunning.

This board is very inspiring in my opinion. It doesn’t get any more shabby or chic. The table settings are perfectly elegant and chic, while the favors are little nested “eggs” and perfectly shabby. Love this!

The last shabby and chic inspiration for today is a pink and black current combination.

I absolutely love the fun cake stands and mason jars used here. I think that shabby chic can sometimes get out of control, but this is stunning!!

Hope you enjoy!

Peacock Wedding Theme

August 18, 2010

Are you are bride that loves bold colors and bold statements? Well, we just might have the wedding inspiration you are looking for. Peacock wedding themes seem to be all the rage right now. According to weddingtobe.com, this theme calls for bold colors and rich fabrics.

Weddingtobe.com says that you can use this theme to say you’re “proud as a peacock” to be marrying your sweetie.

You can play up the peacock theme by using it throughout every aspect of your wedding, or you can tone it down and use it sparesly. Either way, this wedding theme will make a big statement and a big hit!

Envisioning a fairytale wedding but don’t want to break the bank? How about a wedding fit for a queen-the Queen of England that is. English style weddings are charming and on average they are much cheaper than an American wedding!

Oh and did I mention that their wedding typically last all day?

The main characteristic of a British wedding is the noon ceremony followed by the wedding breakfast. The ceremony is typically only for close family and friends.

Remember, booking smaller ceremony locations earlier in the day and serving a brunch buffet are simple ways to cut costs.

Following the ceremony is the breakfast which lasts until about three p.m. Again this is typically for family only.

At night the party begins. Rather than spending money on a rehearsal dinners and bridal showers, British brides spend money on a reception that lasts all afternoon and well into the night. Everyone in invited to the reception where the bride dances with her father and the bouquet is thrown. The garter tradition is rare in the UK and viewed as inappropriate. Cash bar is also standard.

Rather than spending a chunk of change on a wedding cake, a fruitcake topped with marzipan is a major staple of an English themed wedding. Just make sure you save the top tier; it’s called the “christening cake” and is to be eaten when the bride’s first child is born!

As for apparel, the simpler the better. Wedding dresses are typically white, but pastel dresses are also common. Tuxedos are unnecessary and the mother of the bride and groom wear simple outfits that do not necessarily correspond with wedding colors.

Looking for some of those special touches? Upon leaving the wedding ceremony release a few doves. I also suggest that your wedding party ring bells to fend off bad spirits. Finally, drive away with your prince charming in a vintage vehicle with shoes and cans tied to the rear.

Cheerio!

The Bridal Bouquet

August 9, 2010

The bridal bouquet serves more than one purpose during the wedding ceremony. The true meaning of the bridal bouquet has sadly been lost over time. Traditionally, the bride carries her bouquet as a symbol of purity and fertility. Although a lot of brides are unaware of this tradition and the meaning of the bouquet, most brides still carry their bouquet for aesthetic purposes.

It is important to pick the right size for your bridal bouquet. If you are small framed, petite girl, it is important not to have a bouquet that overtakes you. If you are a taller girl, you can have a proportional bouquet. For aesthetic purposes, take time to choose the perfect flowers for your big day!

An Untraditional Wedding

August 7, 2010

It’s not that often that you hear a bride say, “I really just want a very UNtraditional wedding.” I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a wedding that is totally opposite of traditional. What might that look like?

Well for starters, you can start by being untraditional through your wedding gown choice. When I think opposite of traditional, I think something bold and colorful instead of white or ivory. But lets think of it in an even more untraditional sense. What if you decide not to do the big white gown, but instead you wear a simple sundress, or white pant suit? Maybe  that’s for you. You can definitely get creative when you are trying to go for a very untraditional look for the attire of the wedding.

The next thing to think about when planning your wedding is location. Traditionally, brides choose to get married in a church or somewhere that will accomidate a ceremony and reception. But why not plan your untraditional wedding at the zoo or a theme park?

This might sound crazy to the traditional bride, but for those of you who just love to live outside of the box, don’t be afraid to carry that through for your wedding as well!

Have you ever wondered if it would be okay to include your  pet in your wedding? People are doing it all the time! You have probably most commonly heard of dogs serving as ring bearers, but you are in for a real treat. I read on “Intimate Weddings Blog” that owls can also serve as perfect ring bearers. How great is that!? Another great way to incorporate a pet or your favorite animal would be to ride into or away from your wedding on horseback.

Having your pet play a role in your wedding isn’t for everyone, but for those of you that love this idea, it’s totally an okay thing to do! Just be sure that you trust your pet well enough to know they will get the job done properly. If hiring someone to bring in an animal for your special occasion, be sure to do your research in finding a trusted company!
