I recently stumbled across an article that I found really inspiring and creative. I would imagine that for many brides, the initial wedding design choice may not always be the easiest. Some girls have their perfect wedding planned from the time they know what a wedding is, but others haven’t thought twice about it.
The article that I found so cool was found on The Wedding Loft site. This article was titled “A New Way to Find Your Wedding Design Inspiration. The article is all about taking the design of a room and turning that into your wedding design.
Here you can see the center picture is the picture of the design of a bedroom. All the surrounding pictures are the designs and styles that were formed based on the inspiration of the bedroom picture. To read the entire article and details about this inspiration board, click here! I hope this inspires you as much as it did me! Enjoy!

I have never met a bride who doesn’t say they really want the perfect hair and makeup for their big day. Whether you are having your makeup done by someone else professionally, or doing it yourself, I think it’s important to consider a few things before diving in!
- Use an oil-free foundation (unless your skin is very dry) that is as close to your own skin tone as possible. Test by applying a bit to the jaw area, then look outside in natural sunlight to see if the color blends in. Foundation coverage ranges from sheer to heavy; buy according to how even- toned your bare skin is.
- Undereye concealer covers undereye circles, blemishes, etc. It should be a shade lighter than your foundation.
- Powder- this is important! Set your foundation with a loose translucent powder. Then, have an oil-free pressed powder compact with you for touching up a shiny nose, forehead, etc.
- Eyes- you can’t go wrong with soft earth-tone eyeshadows. Use a light, off-white shade to highlight the browbone, and perhaps a taupe or peach on the lid. Blend well! Stay away from frosted eyeshadows as they don’t always photograph well. Use a black, waterproof mascara on the top lashes, and a waterproof pencil to line the top lid. Try navy, charcoal, or dark brown for lining. If needed, fill in the brows with pencil or powder in a shade that is lighter than the hair (it blends in easier). Be careful not to over-do the brows.
- Blush lightly with a powder or creme blush blended into the apple of the cheeks. Just smile, you can’t miss them!
- Lipstick should not be too dark or bright, but should be in the same color family as the blush, whether rosy or peachy. Stay away from drab browns, they’re too dulling when you’re wearing white. For lip color that lasts, try a lip pencil in a matching shade, fill in the lips, then apply lipstick over it. You can also find “indelible” lipsticks that
stay on and on– just make sure you really like the color before applying it! Finish with a drop of lip gloss in the center of the bottom lip for added fullness and shine.

Depending on the location, the season, and the overall theme of your wedding, the options for your centerpieces are endless! Tall extravagant centerpieces or short and whimsical? Boldly colored or earthy tones? With your floral centerpieces, it’s important to incorporate the same theme and feel that you have going for the rest of your wedding decor.
I have seen a lot of brides use a mixture of centerpiece ideas. It’s nice to give the room a dimensional feeling by adding in different centerpieces from table to table. I would say that unless you are using a very eclectic theme, you should stay consistent in the types of flowers used. For instance, you could use a tall trumpet vase with your favorite flowers on one table, and on the next you could use a small vase with the same flowers. You could even add in a third design with floating candles and a single stem floating in vases.
Here is a perfect example found on weddingbee blog. You can see that at this wedding, they used the same color scheme and even the same flowers, but they incorporated other elements and different heights from centerpiece to centerpiece.
I think this gives the room a great visual effect and your guests will be awed!

I was researching around for some neat shabby chic inspiration to share with all of you beautiful brides, and wedding wire happens to have some awesome inspiration!
Pink lemonade and midnight. I would have never come up with that combination on my own, but oh my goodness, it’s beautiful! Here is some perfect inspiration for these colors using the shabby chic wedding theme.
The beautiful calligraphy and the ribbon used to hang the the placecards are a perfect combination of shabby and chic.
The next one that I found on wedding wire is the combination of juniper and Turkish rose. It’s stunning.
This board is very inspiring in my opinion. It doesn’t get any more shabby or chic. The table settings are perfectly elegant and chic, while the favors are little nested “eggs” and perfectly shabby. Love this!
The last shabby and chic inspiration for today is a pink and black current combination.
I absolutely love the fun cake stands and mason jars used here. I think that shabby chic can sometimes get out of control, but this is stunning!!
Hope you enjoy!

Okay, so I decided it’s finally time to share my story and pictures from my wedding! I’m a Solutions Bride myself! I started my gown search almost a year before my wedding because I was completely stoked! I found Solutions Bridal by just driving by because I lived in Winter Park at the time. I happened to have my first appointment during a Rivini Trunk Show, so I was given the chance to see all of the latest Rivini gowns at the time. And let me tell you, I was AMAZED!
I wore a full lace Rivini gown, with crystal and pearl beadwork across the belt line. The dress has five different layers of handmade lace and I had the neckline changed to a sweatheart neckline which is my all-time favorite.
I also purchased my amazing veil from Solutions Bridal. The overall theme for my wedding was a very vintage style theme, and my veil was one of my favorite parts!
The bridesmaids dresses were also done through Solutions Bridal and they were beautiful Dessy dresses. We did the dresses in a charcoal gray with a black banded waist. I thought they were super classy and super fun!
We were married at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, in Williamsburg, Virginia. My husband and I met in high school there and we started dating our junior year. Although we have moved away from our hometown since, we decided to have our wedding back in our hometown where all of our memories are held!
Our florist was Jennifer Litterst with My Favorite Things in Williamsburg, VA. She was absolutely amazing. She met with us before the wedding and did a mock of all of the table arrangements, and we were blown away. For my bouquet and for my husband’s flower we incorporated feathers, (without his knowledge) because my veil had feathers.
For our cake, we used Charlie Little out of Lanexa, VA. His company is called Cakes by Charlie and he too is phenomenal. He met with us and incorporated everything that we wanted for our cake. Unknowingly to my husband, I sent a picture of my gown to our baker and he incorporated the lace design on the tiers of our cake. He also incorporated pearls and made the cake look very vintage. The flowers on the cake were also done by Jennifer Litterst with My Favorite Things.
For our photographer, we had Beth McManus from Granite Bay, California. She used to live in Williamsburg, and I had seen her work and knew I had to have her. She was absolutely amazing and couldn’t have impressed us more with her photos.
There were so many amazing aspects about my wedding that I would love to share, but the blog couldn’t contain it all! It was the perfect day that I had always hoped for. I loved every second of the planning process. We really aimed to incorporate who we are into the wedding and I am blessed to say it was exactly what we wanted! We have been happily married since June 5, 2010 and I wish the very best to all of you brides planning your perfect day!
xoxo,

The TravelĀ Channel posted an article on their website about the best bachelorette party spots throughout the United States. The top five places in the US according to the Travel Channel are New York, NY, South Beach (Miami), FL, Charleston, SC, Las Vegas, NV, and Orlando, FL.
New York, NY is suggested as being the top five for many reasons. They have spas, world-class shopping, a great night life, restaurants, and more to keep the bachelorette party going! The Travel Channel suggests that you check into the Gansevoort Hotel for a “Sex in the City” style party.

South Beach, FL was mentioned in the top 5 for many reasons as well. The article said that South Beach offers all of the same things as NYC offers, except add in some beach time to mix it up! The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is recommended for a super “hip” and affordable bachelorette party and it’s right on Collins Avenue.

Charleston, SC is another top 5 place for the opposite experience you would get in NYC or South Beach. Charleston is the perfect spot to spend a low-key weekend with the ladies. There is plenty of classy dining and boutique shopping to be had in Charleston. The Travel Channel said that this is the perfect place for a group of close knit friends to spend time together.

LasĀ Vegas, NV is a top five bachelorette party spot for obvious reasons! If you want to really do it up big, Vegas is the place for you! The article recommends that you don’t spend more than 2 days in sin city, or you will be paying the toll when bathing suit season rolls around
There are plenty of places to party it up in Vegas, and plenty of spas to spend the days in as well.

Lastly, our beloved Orlando, FL is on the top five list as well! How cool is that? We live in one of the top places for bachelorette party spots! All of you Orlando brides, here is the inside scoop on the places to spend your fun night out in Orlando. The Travel Channel recommends The Grand Bohemian downtown, The Gaylord Palms, The Hard Rock Hotel, and Portofino Bay Hotel.

Remember ladies, this is your time to have fun with your girls, so plan your destination according to what you love and what your girlfriends will love to do with you!! HAVE FUN!

Wedding planner Mindy Weiss is a very talented and well-known New York City wedding planner. I love reading through her blog and seeing all of her real wedding posts! One that really sparked my interest was a real wedding she planned that had tons of really cool chair cover options throughout the whole event.
The wedding was an outdoor ceremony at the Resort At Pelican Hill in California. The reception that followed was an indoor reception, and Mindy Weiss was able to incorporate some really unique chair covers both indoor and out.

Chair covers can be a really great way to incorporate a color or a specific theme that you want for your wedding overall. Instead of overdoing the decor, you can be creative with chair covers!

Whether your wedding is a destination wedding or it’s right in your hometown, welcome baskets are a perfect idea for all of your out of town guests. There are plenty of ways to get creative and treat your guests without exceeding your budget.
My inlaws offered to take on this task at my wedding, and I loved what they included in the bag, so I’m going to share those ideas with you.

My wedding was in Williamsburg, VA, a city rich with history not only as our hometown, but as the starting point for our country. Williamsburg has a lot of things that they are known for, so for our welcome bags, we included everything Williamsburg “esque.” In the winter time in Williamsburg, one of the many traditions is to stroll the streets through historic downtown and sip on hot cider. So in the bags, we included a small bottle of apple cider. Not just Williamsburg, but Virginia as a whole is known for their peanuts. The bags each included a small bag of the well-known spicy peanuts. There is a local eatery that everyone in town loves, so we included a small honey mustard dip and pretzel sticks from this local place. Along with Williamsburg labeled water bottles, each bag included our suggested hang outs and places to eat. With each suggestion, we included a small blurb with our history at each place. For instance, a local coffee shop we suggested was the same shop I sang in when I was in high school.
The bags don’t have to be too fancy or over the top. Include some of your favorite things or fun facts about the wedding location, and your guests will love it! It’s always a great idea to include a map and directions to and from the events for your wedding weekend as well!
